Butterfly Swirl Milk Bread

Ingredients

For the Dough:

  • 3 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm whole milk (110°F)
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 large egg

For the Swirl:

  • 1 tsp Suncore Foods Butterfly Pea Powder
  • 1 tsp Suncore foods Matcha Powder
  • 1 tbsp warm water (for each powder)

Instructions

1️⃣ Prepare the Dough

In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy. Add flour, salt, vegetable oil, and egg. Mix until a dough forms, then knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

2️⃣ Color the Dough

Divide the dough into three equal portions. Mix Butterfly Pea Powder and Matcha Powder separately with warm water to form a paste. Knead the colors into two of the dough portions, leaving the third plain.

3️⃣ First Rise

Place each dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise for 1-2 hours until doubled.

4️⃣ Shape the Bread

Roll each dough portion into equal-sized rectangles. Stack them in layers (plain, blue, green) and roll tightly from the short end to form a loaf.

5️⃣ Second Rise

Place in a greased loaf pan, cover, and let rise for 1 more hour.

6️⃣ Bake & Cool

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 30-35 minutes, until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped. Cool before slicing.
